Thank you for reporting this issue. Somehow I did not receive a notification about it or I missed it... Nevertheless, the issue was fixed two months ago in the gnome-commander-1.16.2 ebuild, where the "cairo" USE-flag was added for poppler. https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/blob/master/gnome-extra/gnome-commander/gnome-commander-1.16.2.ebuild#L23
