Description MM 2005-04-17 01:18:15 UTC
The screenshot says it all. Kdiff3 stopped working (I don't know it it's KDE 3.4 related, because I haven't used it for some time). The window is completely unusable because of the rendering flaws. This is the only program which exhibits such a behaviour, everything else works perfectly well. I have tried re-emerging the program, but I still get the same thing.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just start KDiff3
2.
3.

There's some problem at a lower level for sure, it's really strange that it only happens with kdiff3...

Please post your 'emerge info', the version of kdiff3, qt, xorg-x11, etc...
Comment 2 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-18 04:47:08 UTC
Are you using some experimental xrender extension, maybe?
Comment 3 MM 2005-04-18 13:17:43 UTC
The "extension" word remindend me something :-) I had tried some time ago with xcompmgr, but it didn't work (because of the incompatible ati-drivers). So I disabled it from the KDE control center, but forgot to revert the change I made to xorg.conf, i.e. the composite extension was still enabled:
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

Commenting out that, makes kdiff3 work again.

However, it is very strange that kdiff3 is the one and only application that has problems with this...

I post my configuration anyway, just in case you were curious ;-)

kdiff3 version: 0.9.88
kde version: 3.4.0
ati-drivers version: 8.12.10
