This bug is solved, I did an emerge world, and with this upgraded glibc to 2.3.5. With this the problem disappeared. Problem not only happened with octave-forge but also with octave, konsole output: */ checking for propagate_empty_matrices in Octave... *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x089d0030 *** panic: Aborted -- stopping myself... attempting to save variables to `octave-core'... save to `octave-core' complete */ What probably caused the problem: - I switched from gcc-3.4.3 to gcc-3.3.5 by and did emerge -peD world may something went wrong here - or glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1 in combination with gcc-3.3.5 and octave?
