Description Thomas Bettler 2005-04-13 10:27:25 UTC
There is no ability to choose the affected software package in Gentoo Linux -> Application. If the package (owner) could be identified by the bug reporter, this would save a lot of time and energy of the people working behind bugzilla, not?

I like the package chooser i.e. on bugs.kde.org - why not adopt the good things of others?

You mean be able to choose the application affected from a drop down menu? (Such as openvpn, gnome, evolution, kde, etc)

I think this is an excellent idea, though to do it right would probably mean a
lot of work. Ideally you would be able to pick the exact gentoo portage package
both in reporting and searching. This might work like this: pick the category
from one list, which then loads the packages in a second... and then probably
the version in a third. The problem is that bugzilla would then need to be
synced to portage for this to be of any use.

ben,

this is somethin that would need a custom field, which is actually something on
the bugzilla roadmap as a project whole. i will close this for later but will
keep an eye on it.
