Description Wolf Giesen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-13 01:32:06 UTC
After upgrading from mozilla-thunderbird 1.0 to 1.0.2 my enigmime support is broken. Here's the enigmail "About" info:

> Running Enigmail version 0.86.1.0
> Warning: Incompatible Enigmime version 0.90.2.0

Because of this, inline gnupg support works, but PGP/MIME no nonger does. Which is bad for me.

I think it would be nice to have ot fixed.

Does anybody know how to fix this manually without deleting most of the profile?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mozilla-thunderbird 1.0
2. emerge mozilla-thunderbird 1.0.2
3. use PGP/MIME

Actual Results:
PGP/MIME support is broken, enigmail complains about incompatible version.

Expected Results:
Working PGP/MIME support as has been before

I'd like to suggest taking enigmail out of the thunderbird ebuild and giving it
it's own ebuild if that is possible. That way we could more easily benefit from
enigmail updates which are more frequent than tunderbird updates.

Well I deleted XUL.mfasl and chrome/chrome.rdf in my profile. Now Enigmail no longer shows the error, but when I try to send something via PGP/MIME, Thunderbird freezes, then crashes after about 10 seconds.

Well, since new builds have enigmail removed (finally!), we can close this one...

enigmail has been removed. an enhancement bug has an ebuild that has enigmail
support add back in but will not see its way back into the tree. We are working
on making enigmail its own build finally.
