Xartin over on Discord has done some research into using stable gentoo with clang toolchain and has discovered clang can only build the kernel module on 2.1.7 due to an upstream fix.

Due to the open bug on arm64 I'm only suggesting amd64 for now as few people have tested this on this platform and had good results so it looks safe to make this change based on our findings.

We don't generally want to stable for partial arches unless we can help it. Same reason that GCC 12 hasn't been stabled despite the only known issue being PPC (it looks like it might be generic, in fact) - it leads to inconsistency and confusion.

Things working with Clang is also something that's hard to guarantee for stable right now.

gyakovlev may feel differently but I suspect we'd rather put the effort into just fixing the arm64 problem and stabling 2.1.7.

Understood, I'll update the wiki page in the meantime and at least this bug report will stand for those that get stuck as the error is pretty hidden.
