Description Christian Schmitt 2005-04-12 01:32:25 UTC
I'm using DVB and from time to time (more often than not) the corresponding entries in /dev disappear. The same problem occurs with /dev/sound if I use OSS emulation. It is not a driver issue, since the entries in /sys are still there even if /dev shows no devices.
I recently upgraded to udev 056 and the problems are gone.
I think a newer version of udev than 045 should be marked stable.

It will take a while, there are other issues with 056 right now. 057 should be out soon to address them.
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-16 10:57:10 UTC
057 is out. ;-)
Comment 3 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-16 22:13:00 UTC
Yes, and different enough that I'll let Fedora go through the learning curve, before inflicting it on gentoo. But I'll get to it later in the week probably, if it goes well there.
Comment 4 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-24 11:52:42 UTC
fixed, use the latest udev
Comment 5 Christian Schmitt 2005-04-25 10:34:51 UTC
Maybe I don't get it, but 045 ist still the latest stable version and should be upgraded to a newer one.
Comment 6 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-12 11:11:51 UTC
056 is marked stable now.
