I'm using DVB and from time to time (more often than not) the corresponding entries in /dev disappear. The same problem occurs with /dev/sound if I use OSS emulation. It is not a driver issue, since the entries in /sys are still there even if /dev shows no devices. I recently upgraded to udev 056 and the problems are gone. I think a newer version of udev than 045 should be marked stable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. It will take a while, there are other issues with 056 right now. 057 should be out soon to address them.
057 is out. ;-)
Yes, and different enough that I'll let Fedora go through the learning curve, before inflicting it on gentoo. But I'll get to it later in the week probably, if it goes well there.
fixed, use the latest udev
Maybe I don't get it, but 045 ist still the latest stable version and should be upgraded to a newer one.
056 is marked stable now.
