I've had issues with VMWARE 4.5.2 and the 2.6.11 kernel. Have you tried this with the 2.6.10 kernel?
There was an issue with the 2.6.12 kernels and vmware. This should be resolved now in the latest ebuild in portage. Wait at least 30 minutes, emerge sync, and try again.
The new ebuild installs the 90 version of the any-any drivers/tools. But the result is the same: gentoo / # /opt/vmware/bin/vmware-config.pl Making sure services for VMware Workstation are stopped. Great to hear... but we resolve bugs on our side... ;]
Fixed in latest ebuild
(In reply to comment #7) > Great to hear... but we resolve bugs on our side... ;] No problem with me. Anyway... allow me to ask: If I am not allowed to close bugs or set them to the resolved state, then why do I have this possibility? It would be much more userfriendly if this possibility would not be there for regular users as I am. Kind Regards Steve
As the user that filed the bug, bugzilla, by default, gives you this option. We would have to do quite a bit of work to change it. The reason why we resolve them on our end is completely for statistics reasons. It doesn't hurt anything for you to resolve them, other than our stats.
