April 4th, 2005: wxWidgets 2.5.5 has been released: please see the download page. The next release will be 2.6.0 (stable). i know you've against "unstable" builds. consider this: 1) next version will be 2.6.0, declared stable. will be out very very soon. 2) 2.4.2 is really old, slow, bugged, with an horrible gtk2 support so i think you can add hardmasked 2.5.5 ebuild, to let people test and bump to 2.6 when out (only and ebuild rename and digest needed so). and i ask for wxbase inclusion too, so people can use base library without gtk or similar deps. wxbase is 2.4.2 too, so stable. and this can be added now. i see in portage lots of unstable ebuilds, openoffice, gcc, glibc... considering that wx 2.5 is (not 100% but a lot..) backward compatibile i don't see any problems. please bump.
update: in wx cvs, they have prepared 2.6 tag. this mean 2.6 release is really behind the door.
wx 2.6 has been released, no more execuses now, it's declared stable :)
I tried the two 2.6 builds from the last two days, but I don't see any final release. Where did you find that? http://starship.python.net/crew/robind/wxPython/daily/20050419
http://sourceforge.net/projects/wxwindows they usually release on sf anmd after update their own website
Wierd, they don't have it on their main site yet and didn't announce it on the mailing lists. Anyways, thanks. Closing this bug, won't be adding 2.5.5. I'll probably have 2.6 in portage later today.
