Description mats olsson 2005-04-09 12:09:17 UTC
When starting firefox i used to get a new window for every launch
but now it just owerwrites the last window
If this is intended.
How do i force it to open a new window ?
It is especially frustrating when i use multiple desktops and start firefox and nothing seems to happen because it opened in my previus window on another screen

version is 1.30

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.firefox www.gentoo.org
2.firefox forums.gentoo.org
3.

Actual Results:
I get forums.gentoo.org instead of www.gentoo.org in my browser

Expected Results:
Opened a new window so i would have both pages up

Mats, the default for mozilla-launcher was changed so that browser prefs can take priority. You can chance the default in firefox in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Tabbed Browsing->Open links from other applications in:

Alternatively, if you want to restore the old behavior where mozilla-launcher forces one or the other, set MOZILLA_NEWTYPE=window in your environment.

Then I suppose the bug lies in firefox then.
Because I already have open i new window marked in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Tabbed Browsing->Open links from other applications in:
And unfortunately MOZILLA_NEWTYPE=window did not help.

Mats, please try mozilla-launcher-1.32 which I've just marked stable in portage. It contains a fix related to this which I'd forgotten about.

Thanks for the new version Aron
Now MOZILLA_NEWTYPE=window works as it should
But mozilla still ignores what I set in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Tabbed Browsing->Open links from other applications in:
Now that MOZILLA_NEWTYPE=window works I can manage.
So I can think of this as resolved.
But let me know if I can help you test the preferences way.
