The file /usr/lib/systemd/system/influxdb.service changed since version 1.8.3: it calls a systemd start schript instead of directly calling the executable; the start script is however not The new influxd-systemd-start.sh script waits for the influxd daemon to actually start listening for http/https requests. To fix the ebuild, add those 2 lines at the beginning of src_install(): exeinto /usr/lib/influxdb/scripts doexe scripts/influxd-systemd-start.sh
