Description Vanquisher 2005-04-08 16:33:43 UTC
when i do glxgears, or anything requiring opengl for that matter, my screen goes black then slowly appears back to my background and is unuseable, i checked X's log, no error initalizes the driver for savage fine but..i find this error in dmesg after i revert to real console after my X screen is unuseable

[drm] Initialized savage 2.4.1 20050313 on minor 0: S3 Inc. SuperSavage IX/C SDR
[drm] Used old pci detect: framebuffer loaded
agpgart: Found an AGP 2.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 1x mode
agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 1x mode

Error Here:
[drm:savage_bci_wait_event_shadow] *ERROR* failed!
[drm] status=0x0000006d, e=0x0076

Note The Error is when accessing any program that uses opengl

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot up
2.try anything that uses opengl
3.

Actual Results:
screen locks out, and i have to revert to real console and type dmesg and I get
this error under the savage initalized:

[drm:savage_bci_wait_event_shadow] *ERROR* failed!
[drm] status=0x0000006d, e=0x0076

Expected Results:
opengl should be able to run without that error and cause no screen lockouts

Comment 1 Adam Jackson 2005-04-08 19:53:38 UTC
this is if anything a bug in the savage driver, and not in gentoo's packaging of it. please file it upstream with them (bugs.freedesktop.org, product Mesa, component Drivers/DRI/Savage) so we can track it there.
Comment 2 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-24 00:56:49 UTC
See comment #1. Post the URL here if you file upstream, please.
