Description Mark Brophy 2005-04-08 14:37:02 UTC
When I execute inkscape, the following is printed out in the terminal:

** ERROR **: file document.cpp: line 350 (SPDocument* sp_document_create(SPReprDoc*, const gchar*, const gchar*, const gchar*, unsigned int, unsigned int)): assertion failed: (SP_ROOT (document->root)->defs)
aborting...

Emergency save activated!
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.Aborted

Then a popup says "Inkscape has crashed and has to be restarted". I think it has to do with the necessity to be using boehm-gc 4.5 with this version, because with inkscape 0.37 and an older version, everything works. But boehm-gc makes 0.37 fail too!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start inkscape
2.wait for crash

Actual Results:
crash

Expected Results:
start

I am running stable versions of glibmm gtkmm glib libsigc++, etc. The only
development packages I have on my system are inkscape and boehm-gc
