Brent has been helping the ppc64 team out with testing for quite some time. He works for IBM with Tom Gall (tgall) which gives hime both immediate access to test media and to the full range of IBM's ppc64 hardware. Recently he has been helping us flesh out the ppc64 documention specifically regarding IBM equipment. I would like to bring him on as a new docs dev. He has every intention of moving on to full dev status later on but he wants to settle into a rythm with the docs first. I will be his mentor.
We could surely do with a new victim for ppc docs. Brent, reading the docs listed at http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gdp/index.xml#doc_chap4 should be your first step. Feel free to ask for any help. #gentoo-doc on freenode and the gentoo-doc@gentoo.org mailing list is where you'll find the rest of us.
dostrow please provide him the staff quiz. Brent when you are re
dostrow please provide him the staff quiz. Brent when you are reéady and your mentor approved the quiz please send it to recruiters. Jochen
Please keep in mind that the documentation project has some hard requirements before someone is recruited. First of all, we also work on a "contributions -> developer status"-type of recruitment. The contributions need to be quantitatively good and well-spread in time (no single burst, but a steady flow). Contributions should preferably be given through bugzilla and will be checked for xml correctness, coding style, accuracy and spelling/grammar mistakes (if English), even though the latter isn't perfect. When a contributor is deemed "interesting" and aware of all the above-mentioned stuff, he is given read-only access to generate commit-ready patches. During this stage, the patches will be committed for the contributor almost verbatim (okay, we do check them, but we know we can trust the contributor now). This stage is needed to help the contributor work with CVS and the GDP policy (for instance updating of metadoc, correct version bumping, ...). Once this stage is over and succesfully passed, the GDP starts the recruiting.
As Swift pointed out, it time first that he does the doc stages first with the doumentation team, before he can be accepted as a documentation dev. i'll mark this later, Brent, please contact documentation leads neys or Swift about this. greetings
I think there needs to be some clarifications here. Brent is not just doing documentation work. He's been working behind the scenens on gentoo-ppc64 items for better than 9 months now. Let's not trivialize his long record of significant accomplishment and contribution. I am reopening this bug. As the gentoo-ppc64 lead, Brents name is here not only as one of the number of people that helps out on the docs for ppc64, but also all of the other work we have as well. Let's keep the ball rolling Regards, Tom
After talking with Brent he and I agreed that he will go for full dev status now and transition into docs when swift and neysx feel comfortable with him. Swift sorry for jumping the gun I didn't know you guys had specific criterion for arch based docs devs as well. I will make sure that once he is in the system I will hook him up with you guys so he can start to get familiar with your procedured etc. I will be removing you two from the bug for now. Thanks again.
Brent would like to request that his username be ranger instead of baude. He will be sending in his first quiz shortly.

SeJo's requested that other recruiters handle his bugs.
I sent my end quiz to recruiters.

(In reply to Brent Baude from comment #20) > Please do not retire me. Can you at least set a devaway message explaining what is occurring and when do you plan to return? Otherwise is really difficult to know what is occurring :/
