I started writing this bug about the gdbm-1.8.0-r5 ebuild and a missing patchfile.  Since I couldn't retrieve the patchfile from CVS, I decided to try editing the gdbm-1.8.3-r1 ebuild by adding ~ppc-macos to KEYWORDS, making the appropriate change to /etc/portage/package.keywords, and letting emerge do its thing.  The ebuild completed without any errors, and mutt-1.5.6-r2 (an app which has gdbm as a dependency) also compiled without errors.  If there's not some incompatibility with Mac OS X that I don't know about, it might not be a bad idea to add ppc-macos to KEYWORDS.
