Description douglass 2005-04-05 09:49:58 UTC
I have created an ebuild for ESP Print Pro Software (the commercial distribution of CUPS).
I have set it to provide virtual/lpr, but I need it to also provide "cups" so that other applications that link to cups can use ESP. For example, samba will not emerge with the cups USE flag after installing ESP (ESP blocks cups in my ebuild).

After asking on the dev forums, it was suggested that I post here.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge esp-printpro
2. USE="cups" emerge samba
3.

Actual Results:
Get a message that a dep can't be installed because it is blocked.

Expected Results:
Build and install samba with cups support provided by ESP Print Pro.

You want something. That's not a blocker, but an enhancement request. As long as ESP Print Pro is not in the official tree, I don't think that there will be any support for it.

`man portage` (look for package.provided) is what you want.

Please provide an espprintpro ebuild, then we can think about adding a virtual for you. For the meantime I suggest you add cups to /etc/portage/profiles/package.provided
