Description Michael Gaber 2005-04-01 05:28:51 UTC
in IBM-acpi 0.11 is a IDECTL file inclluded.
this one is needed for hotswapping the ibm-ultrabay-drives in notebooks.

the one from hdparm (tested up to version 5.9) doesnt work but throws some errors.

I'd linke the ebuild for ibm-acpi to be changed in a way that it copies the idectl-file to /sbin where the one from hdparm resides and I'd like it to be protected somehow from being overwritten by updates of hdparm.

I think the better way would be to fix the hdparm script to work well (if it's a non-intrusive change).

base-system: thoughts?

considering ibm-acpi is a packaged geared specifically towards ibm thinkpad's while hdparm is geared towards all ide drives, this doesnt make much sense

you should either fix the hdparm version or have the ibm-acpi install its idectl binary as something like 'idectl-file-ibm-acpi'

So no objections to having ibm-acpi install it's binary as /sbin/idectl-ibm-acpi? Reporter, will this fix the issue for you?
