Description Wayne 2005-03-31 12:34:43 UTC
smpeg-0.4.4-r5 fails on compile because it relies on an unstable version of sdl. Heres the output

checking for socklen_t... yes
checking for sdl-config... /usr/bin/sdl-config
checking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** Could not run SDL test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means SDL was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved SDL since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the sdl-config script: /usr/bin/sdl-config
configure: error: *** SDL version 1.2.0 not found!

!!! Please attach the config.log to your bug report:
!!! /var/tmp/portage/smpeg-0.4.4-r5/work/smpeg-0.4.4/config.log

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge smpeg
2.
3.

Comment 7 Wayne 2005-04-03 00:50:28 UTC
If there is anything else that I am supposed to do please give me a list so that this doesn't have to be done one thing at a time...

There seems to be a lot of links broken. Is this normal?
Comment 8 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-04-03 09:47:14 UTC
you could grep /var/db/pkg and find out what is explititly requiring smpeg-0.4.4-r4, and then change it to -r5
Comment 9 Wayne 2005-04-03 12:57:31 UTC
This is the only line I could find and it doesn't seem to be the problem...

/var/db/pkg/media-libs/sdl-mixer-1.2.5-r1/DEPEND:>=media-libs/smpeg-0.4.4-r1
Comment 10 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-04-03 12:59:03 UTC
regardless, file a bug for the portage team since the original bug here is INVALID
Comment 11 Wayne 2005-04-04 01:04:48 UTC
I'm trying to reassign this bug to portage, hope it works...
Comment 12 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-04-04 05:34:18 UTC
file a new bug, this bug has too much crap in it
Comment 13 Wayne 2005-04-04 06:00:35 UTC
Screw that, I've wasted enough time on this already. I really though Gentoo appreciated people that take the time to test and file bug reports. I don't even know what the lib does... My solution emerge -C smpeg.
