Hi, I just set up an rsync-mirror at gentoo.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de. Please add the machine (IP 134.106.11.88, AKA veritas.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de) to the mirror rotation. Greets Dirk Raeder Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. seems this mirror is off by quite a bit. get it syncing twice per hour per our rsync server document and i would be happy to add you into rotation. -jeffrey IP: 134.106.11.88 Checked at (UTC) Timestamp ================================================ 12:43:20 Fri, 19 Aug 2005 00:50:01 +0000
The mirror should be on track by now. Had a typo in the rsync-update-script.
Dirk, Sorry this took so long. I just checked the mirror and it looks quite a bit out of date. Do you still wish to be a mirror? If so, get this machine syncing every 30 minutes according to our rsync documents and I can add it into rotation. Thanks! Hi Jeffrey, I just checked the logs and tried a manual update. For months, I just got timeouts when connecting to rsync2.de.gentoo.org - doing a normal emerge sync works, so firewalling or portfiltering does not seem to be the problem. I just changed the rsync source in my scripts to 134.68.220.73 (raven.ussg.iupui.edu); now rsyncing the portage-tree works. Please monitor the server for a few more days and notify me when you are adding it to the mirror rotation. I'll be on Christmas vacation from Sat, 2005-12-17, until Sun, 2006-01-02.
Dirk, I would suggest changing that sync value to rsync.us.gentoo.org. "Raven" is part of the rsync.gentoo.org rotation, and will ban you for 24 hours if you sync to it more than 6 times in 24 hours. The servers in the rsync.us.gentoo.org do not have this limitation. If I do not get your machine in before the holidays, I will add it once I return from my vacation after the first of the year. Regards, Jeffrey
Switched to rsync.us.gentoo.org - thanks for the hint.
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added the IP you specified in the bug to our access database, please start synching to rsync1.us.gentoo.org per our Rsync document at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send our notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth! For Infrastructure, Jeffrey You have been added into the rsync.de.gentoo.org rotation as rsync18.de.gentoo.org.
