Description Peter Ruskin 2005-03-29 03:20:48 UTC
I emerged kde-meta and System Notifications won't play .ogg files. The files
(/usr/kde/3.4/share/sounds/KDE_Beep_Classic.ogg for example) preview OK in konqueror.

Comment 1 Peter Ruskin 2005-04-03 07:23:06 UTC
Hmmm, seems to be working now.
Comment 2 Benno Schulenberg 2005-06-21 02:53:52 UTC
What things did you re-emerge between 03-29 and 04-03? Something that could
have corrected a sound or KDE config file.
Comment 3 Peter Ruskin 2005-06-21 05:45:06 UTC
The problem is still there with KDE-3.4.1. The .ogg notifications only work if
I do Control Centre -> Sound & Multimedia -> System Notifications -> Player
Settings and set this to "Use an external player (/usr/kde/3.4/bin/artsplay)".
If I select "Use the KDE sound system",
usr/kde/3.4/share/sounds/KDE_Beep_Car.ogg doesn't play.
Comment 4 Benno Schulenberg 2005-06-22 02:08:09 UTC
Then you may want to add a comment to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102015.
Comment 5 Peter Ruskin 2005-06-22 03:49:48 UTC
Thanks. Added comment to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102015.
Comment 6 Peter Ruskin 2005-06-22 15:50:16 UTC
Hmmm, (thanks to Benno Schulenberg <benno@nietvergeten.nl> for the info), it
seems that the .ogg notifications _will_ play with KDE sound system only if the
Volume in Control Centre -> Sound & Multimedia -> System Notifications -> Player
Settings is at 100%. The problem has been solved in CVS:
