Docs say Also select Virtual memory, /proc file system, /dev file system + Automatically mount at boot. If you do /dev file system + Automatically mount at boot on kernel compile step, after reboot /dev/hdx or /dev/sdx with / cannot be found. The CODE Listing 7 is correct [ < > /dev file system support (OBSOLETE) ]. Also, I think you forgot to mention to emerge udev Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Actual Results: after reboot /dev/hdx or /dev/sdx with / cannot be found
Thanks, I've updated the paragraph to reflect the changes that were already in the code listing. You don't need to emerge udev, it should be installed by default with the stage3 or compiled when you did a stage2 as udev is listed as the device-manager for your profile, and the device-manager is a core system package.
same problem for amd64 manual, needs to be fixed.
Both /doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml and /doc/en/handbook/2005.0/handbook-amd64.xml are correct, where did you see the issue?
ok, fixed now, thanx :)
