Description Marek Kozlowski 2005-03-28 10:16:47 UTC
AFAIR I've experienced the same with the FreeBSD 4.10 either (so I thrown it away..) after switching to X.Org. The whole screen seems to be "scrolled up" about 1-2 cm - the upper manu bar is invisible and the bottom on is VERY big. Unfortunately I have only a 12" screen and it makes using GNOME VERY difficult. AFAIR using the generic gnome driver used to hang my system from time to time - I had to unplug my notebook and take the batteries away cause the system was absolutly DEAD. Then many fscks or backup restores... I haven't checked it with gentoo and I don't want to. AFAIK this bug was known a few months ago....

oups! wrinting in a hurry so some explanation is required. my fault. sorry

1. In fact it is an xorg 6.8.x problem not a gnome problem. Gnome requires xorg anyway..

2. 'generic gnome driver' (?!) should be 'generic vesa driver' => xorg.conf

could you please re-explain this problem in a clear way that we can understand?
 Thanks!
