I've just upgraded my kernel, and everytime I start mplayer or xawtv (I'm pretty sure there are more, just didn't run into them), it segfaults instantly. For example mplayer dies but mencoder works.. (tried portage version and CVS, too) Strace showed me this: _sysctl({{CTL_KERN, KERN_VERSION}, 2, 0xbfffeee4, 31, (nil), 0}) = 0 --- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) --- Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.start mplayer 2. 3. Actual Results: Segfault Expected Results: Mplayer should work. :-) emerge info: Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1, 2.6.11-love1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-love1 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.10 Python: dev-lang/python-2.1.3-r1,dev-lang/python-2.2.3-r5,dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, Mar 17 2005, 09:54:57)] dev-lang/python: 2.1.3-r1, 2.2.3-r5, 2.3.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r7 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.14 virtual/os-headers: 2.4.19-r1, 2.4.22-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distcc distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.inode.at/ http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr http://gentoo.math.bme.hu http://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aalib alsa amd apm audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzlib calendar cdda cddb cdio cdparanoia cdr chroot clamav crypt cups curl curlwrappers devmap dga dillo dio directfb divx4linux dlloader dmalloc dpms dts dv dvb dvd dvdr dvdread ecc edl encode erandom escreen esd etwin exif faad fam fame ffmpeg figlet flac flash font-server foomaticdb fortran fpx freetds freetype ftp gatos gdbm geoip gif glade glut gnokii gphoto2 gpm graphviz gstreamer gtk gtk2 httpd icq imagemagick imap imlib ipv6 irda java javascript jbig jikes jpeg junit kde kdexdeltas kerberos krb4 lcms ldap libcaca libclamav libg++ libwww lirc live lzo lzw lzw-tiff mad math matroska mbox memlimit mikmod mime ming mjpeg mng monkey motif mozilla mozp3p mozsvg mozxmlterm mp3 mpeg mpeg4 mplayer msn msql mssql mysql mysqli mythtv ncurses nls no-old-linux nomotif ntlm nvidia offensive ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pascal pcre pdflib perforce perl png python qt quicktime quotas readline real recode samba sblive sdl simplexml slang smime sms sndfile sockets sox spell ssl stream subversion svg svga svgz t1lib tcltk tcpd tidy tiff toolbar truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales utf8 v4l v4l2 vcd vcdimager vidix vim-pager vim-with-x winbind x11vnc xanim xface xml xml2 xmlrpc xmms xosd xpm xprint xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc zlib linguas_hu linguas_en" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
