I'm afraid the 'man' command doesn't work after booting with the LiveCD. Nice that it works in the chrooted environment created from the stage3 on the LiveCD but earlier additional computer or some paper documentation may be required.

"man" and all manpages get removed from the cd since they are considered unneccessary and also make up lots of space on the cd. We wouldn't be able to offer CDs with a size of only 50MB if we wouldn't remove parts like that.
