imstead of /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl it installs into /usr/lib/site_perl/ either
/usr/lib/site_perl should be added to @inc or imagemagick should install to the
correct path i guess

Dante,

This has actually been resolved (the problem was with perl's built in
MakeMaker getting confused). Two approaches to solving the problem after a
fresh rsync are 1) emerge dev-perl/ExtUtils-MakeMaker (even if you system says
it's already installed) or 2) upgrade to perl -r7, which has the corrected
MakeMaker as part of the installation process. In testing locally, this solves
the problem and everyone goes to where they should (namely
under /usr/lib/perl5, which is what @inc is looking in).
