1) I have barnyard on the default runlevel, but after i reboot, I have no barnyard processes running.  I think this is because barnyard is started after postgresql (not sure, just a guess), so it fails to start.

2) rc-scripts still report [ OK ] and rc-status shows "started" when it should have been reported as "off".w

Changed the init script to honour $CONF from /etc/conf.d/barnyard.in cvs, thanks
