No server list is generated even after unchecking all options, clicking refresh server list, and also restarting the game. Also unable to connect to servers by the "connect to ip" option (tried several different servers all with the same output - Server - Client mismatch error)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start ET
2.
3.

Actual Results:
No server list, and errors when connecting to servers by IP address.

Wow, Bob...

Any chance you could put the package name in the Summary?

Judging by the error that you've listed, I would assume that whatever package that you're speaking of is either newer or older than the server version you're connecting to.
Comment 2 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 15:55:20 UTC
Sorry, this is version 2.60 that is giving me the problems. And while "newer or older than the server version you're connecting to" does explain the server mismatch error when connecting to IP's problem, it doesn't really explain why I get no server list at all (at least from what I understand it doesn't)
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 16:07:04 UTC
Great... 2.60 of *what* exactly?

More info on posting games bugs can be found at http://games.gentoo.org in the "Gentoo Games Bugs FAQ" section.

Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 16:38:40 UTC
That wasn't so hard, now was it... ;]

I'll look into it as soon as I get a chance. Have you tried reinstalling? Running from the console to see if there are any errors?
Comment 6 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 16:44:15 UTC
haven't yet tried re-installing but no messages out of the ordinary when running it from a terminal that I can tell.
This is the output after the usual sound initialization and loading of maps:

I just verified that it does work here.

One other thing you could try is to rename your .etwolf directory to something else and see if it works after restarting et...

a simple permission problems was the problem removing all traces of .etwolf fixed the problem.
