I think that all the database scripts are better placed in /var/lib/bacula instead of /etc/bacula . In my opinion it's cleaner and more appropriate than using the /etc/bacula directory that contains configuration files. At least it can be useful to make a separate directory inside /etc/bacula. At my work I've tested bacula with Mandrake and it uses to place databases scripts in /var/lib/bacula . Then I've installed bacula under gentoo on a production machine and it was a bit frustrating to see that scripts in /etc/bacula Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Always 2. 3.
This is fixed in the new 1.36.3-r1 ebuild.
