I tried to emerge fftw several times as it is a dependancy of mythmusic. I eventulaly went to /var/tmp/portage/fftw-2.1.5-r1/work and ran configure and make with the flags I found in the ebuild. it finished successfully. so I commented out my MAKEOPTS and FEATURES (only has distcc) in my /etc/make.conf and it compiled without a problem. I read that some programs can disable distcc in their ebuild file. how can that be done?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge distcc
2.setup distc as a feature in portage
3.try to emerge fftw, it will fail

Actual Results:  
it failed to compile and kicked out errors.

Expected Results:  
finish compiling fftw.
