since the spit ebuilds are going to become default, and a lot of people have been having troubles with dependancy, missing features and such, there is a strong need for a documentation that provides for the user either or both of the following: #1: features mapped to ebuilds (ex: I want a taskbar -> emerge kicker) #2: feature contents in ebuilds (ex: kicker contains a taskbar, the k menu and some applets) Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. I am currently using the kde 3.4.0 split ebuilds, thus lots of dependencies are not in place yet, and that may (strongly) influence the need for documentation.

kde (docs) guys what do you think about this bug
Maybe kde-config.xml could do with a table listing most wanted applications and package names when not obvious. See bug 84692: kicker==taskbar is not obvious to me e.g.
If anyone does this, please keep it synched with ebuild DESCRIPTIONs if possible... They are already mostly complete, e.g. kicker has "KDE panel housing various applets".
(In reply to comment #4) OK, what about just a reference to `emerge --searchdesc`?

Fixed in CVS (was sitting here for too long).
