Description Christian Hesse 2005-03-20 08:57:31 UTC
With KDE 3.4 beta1 I could open a new KDM with "K-Menu" -> "switch user" -> "start new session". This didn't work with KDE 3.4 beta2, rc1 and final (built from split ebuilds), the menu entry is simply missing. Now a friend reported it works for his KDE 3.4.0 final with monolithic ebuilds... So I think this is a problem of the split ebuilds.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge kde-meta
Actual Results:
"K-Menu" -> "switch user" -> "start new session" is not present

Expected Results:
Switching user with the above menu entry should be possible.

Comment 1 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-20 10:53:37 UTC
This is probably not related to the split ebuilds but to the kdm configuration (/usr/kde/3.4/share/config/kdm/kdmrc), it changed between beta1 and beta2.
You should check the "StaticServers" and "ReserveServers" entries there to find some hint.
Comment 2 Christian Hesse 2005-03-20 12:39:30 UTC
You're right, everything works fine after reconfiguring kdm.

Sorry for the noise.
