Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. execute perl shell "perl -MCPAN -e shell" 2. install Net::SSH module "cpan>install Net::SSH" 3. inject net-ssh-pelr-1.25 build "emerge --inject dev-perl/net-ssh-perl-1.25" 4. emerge net-sftp portage without crashes Actual Results: i've got working net-sftp programm Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.0, gcc-3.4.3-20050110, glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1, 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.26GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.10 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, Feb 28 2005, 00:38:57)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r6 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.14 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-all-loops" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.du.se/pub/os/gentoo ftp://ftp.du.se/pub/os/gentoo ftp://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ http://ftp.linux.ee/pub/gentoo/distfiles/" LANG="ru_RU.KOI8-R" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aalib alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups curl emboss encode esd fam flac font-server foomaticdb fortran gdbm ggi gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imagemagick imlib java jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls nptl nptlonly oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts xml2 xmms xv zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY

I don't think I understand just what it is you are trying to accomplish here. Why are you mixing CPAN installs with portage like this? First, why not use the provided ebuild for net-sftp and net-ssh-perl? Second, if there is a module you want that isn't in the tree, use g-cpan if you want it recorded by portage, otherwise, why try to mix the two?? If you are having a problem with one of the ebuilds, provide the error from that.
Reopen this if you want, wbut no answer in a week makes me suspect that this bug is going to sit
