Description JPD 2005-03-19 01:55:39 UTC
Owners of the Delkin Devices eFilm PRO Compact Flash CardBus Adapter are unable to use the device at all under linux without the patch written by Mark Lord which is included in the Alan Cox kernel sources. Would it be possible to have this added to the gentoo-dev-sources patchset ?

It was originally added to 2.6.9-ac4 and a minor fix was made in 2.6.9-ac5:
http://kerneltrap.org/node/4106

Still is in 2.6.10-ac12:
http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/1/message/18759/thread

Although I consider this important I am filing it as an enhancement, hope that is the correct category for this.

Cheers, TightCode

I'm not willing to include the entire -ac patch, can you provide a link to the delkin patches alone?

I am sorry, I wasn't asking to included the whole ac patchset, only the delkin patch. I am sorry if this wasn't clear. Also sorry for not answering more quickly, I seem to not have received a notification e-mail from your first comment. I will see if I can find a link to only the delkin patch. I will post back as soon as I have done so.

Here is a link directly to the newest patch:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/alan/linux-2.6/2.6.11/patch-2.6.11-ac6.bz2

And here is a link to the Delkin patch itself:
http://readlist.com/lists/vger.kernel.org/linux-kernel/11/57137.html

If you are able to, it may be better to get the patch from the newest ac patchset because after it entered into the ac patchset I believe improvements were made to it (from comments I read through my searches 2.6.9-ac5 an improvement was made, then something was moved in -ac7, full history of changes to it is visible here: http://lwn.net/Articles/110667/ ). I tried extracting the delkin bits myself from the ac patchset but I kept getting errors from kompare when I was checking if I did it properly, so I presume someone with a bit more experience in that domain, such as yourself may be needed for something more up to date than the above linked patch.

Cheers, TightCode

Please get this included in Linus' tree first. It is not present as of 2.6.12.
