After I emerged Firefox 1.0.1, I cannot launch it; when I attempt, I get the following: No running windows found firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (1) If I delete ~/.mozilla (to make sure no old extensions or configuration interferes), I get this: No running windows found /usr/bin/firefox: line 95: 14290 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (139) Tried remerging, unmerging and deleting /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox altogether and remerging, all to no avail. Emerging the latest Mozilla shows that the same thing happens with Mozilla proper as with Firefox. I also forgot to mention that I have tried unmerging mozilla-launcher and emerging all three versions (1.22, 1.23, 1.26) presently in Portage to no avail.
When you run mozilla from the command line, which user are you using? Are you root by any chance? If so, try with the owner of the X session.
I've tried both, and whether I run as root or as the user that owns the X session, I get the exact same result.
I got the similar problem here. Starting from firefox 1.0.1, no window would be created. Unlike the problem Petter had, I tried deleting ~/.mozilla, the non-zero status is still 1. I took some time recompiling the mozilla-firefox-1.0.2-r1 with the "debug" USE variable enabled.
