to help with Bug 85656 and to help out new users, it'd prob be a good thing to link in the security guide in the top index ... - Working with Gentoo ... 6. Security Guide. A guide for getting your feet wet with typical security issues.
We can't do that. The handbook index is the list of its parts. We can add a link somewhere in the handbook, obviously. Security guide already appears in 2nd place in the 'System Administration Documentation' category from the main index at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ Maybe we could add a 'Security' category.
we only have 1 security guide atm (if you dont count all of the hardened stuff, but that's a sep proj) so that wouldn't make much sense ...
There is an idea on changing the format of the guide to a handbook style (since it's quite large), but imo it doesn't belong in the gentoo handbook itself.
IMO , we should link it to Chapter 12 of the Installation Handbook ( "Where to go from here?" ). Security is a fundamental problem, and the user should be reminded to look at it.
I've added a link to the security guide in the final chapter of the installation instructions.
