Apparently, these mirrors are incorrectly configured. http://mirror.clarkson.edu http://mirror.uni-c.dk http://gentoo.blueyonder.co.uk ftp://mirrors.blueyonder.co.uk Theya re all showing 2005.0 release materials before the bit flip!!
I just mailed the list to see if I can get ahold of those admins. In the meantime I took their mirror off the mirrors.xml file.
ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/ is spewing release stuff out via rsync, but I've been told that is done on purpose.
Also logged with Blueyonder Ticket #P0091511; will phone them tomorrow when the mirror admins should hopefully be in.
AMD64 isos on these mirrors don't appear to work
Paul, If they dont appear to work, that's on purpose. We stage the mirrors in a hidden fashion so they all have the files, then "flip the bit" so they all go public at once. -Jeffrey
No, I mean I downloaded both minimal and universal amd64s isos and neither booted....off 2 of the listed servers mind you
Amd64 is a known problem. It's being worked on.
jforman, paul was saying that the amd64 cd's don't boot, and he is correct. We are currently working on the situation.
mirror.clarkson.edu is fixed.
Great! Thanks for fixing that. Out of curosity, what did you do to fix it?
We had recently updated our server to run Debian (I know... I know... but our sparc is slow and compiling takes eons to keep updated), and in the process, the new server admin forgot to make sure the apache user and the user mirroring the files weren't the same. I just updated the apache config to use a different user.
Blueyonder seems to have been fixed.
blueyonder and clarkson picked up their act. no word on uni-c.dk, could you guys please fix that? Thanks, Jeffrey
I believe the reason for the problem, is that I rewrite all permissions after rsync is done. This is done as a precaution, since i don't want files to have the execute bit set. I've modified the script so it now removes any wx bits from group and other. This I believe will fix the problem. However the updating process it quite slow from the master mirror, I'm currently updating from a secondary mirror, which is faster. I'll switch back to the master, once the update has been completed.
Clarkson looks good, back in. Thanks Mike! -Jeffrey
mirror.uni-c.dk should be ok now, and updated fully.
Could you please confirm that the changes are ok? I see no point in mirroring Gentoo project data if the site is not on the mirror page.
Rasmus, You dont need to add me to the CC on the bug, i am part of the mirror-admin alias ;) With regards to your changes, looks good to me. Thanks! Jeffrey
