Description Mathias Hasselmann 2005-03-18 05:59:22 UTC
GTK+ 2.6.2 requires automake-1.7, so it emerging x11-libs/gtk+-2.6.2 fails without that version of automake being installed. Suggesting to add automake-1.7 to the ebuilds compile-time dependencies.

When's the last time you updated your system? automake-wrapper and all versions of automake are marked stable for every arch except ppc-macos, so 1.4-9 should be on your system.
Comment 2 Mathias Hasselmann 2005-03-18 07:32:43 UTC
Yes, that machine was quite outdated. But: automake-wrapper has been updated before emerging that version of gtk+. Only problem why that update automake-wrapper: It fetched automake-1.4_p6, automake-1.5, automake-1.6.3, automake-1.8.5-r3 and automake-1.9.4, *but not automake-1.7.9-r1*.

Gtk+-2.6.2 explictly checks for existance of automake-1.7.

Look at the output of emerge -ep gtk+, you'll see automake-1.7* is definetely in the deptree. It sounds like something happened during your updates, but gtk+ is definitely depending (indirectly) on automake-1.7.
