the 2005.0 upgrade script nor the manual upgrade guide fixes the lib symlinks. There is general confusion on how it should be ([/usr]/lib -> [/usr]/lib64, or [/usr]/lib64 -> [/usr]/lib ?), and how to execute the merge (is a simple deep copy from one to the other sufficient, or should older libs not be overwritten?) This causes problems for a lot of packages that can't find the libs they need. see the forum post linked in the URL for more info and one possible resolution. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. follow install guide at: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/amd64/howtos/index.xml?part=1&chap=1 2. 3. Actual Results: /lib64 is a link to /lib, but /usr/lib and /usr/lib64 are separate directories. Expected Results: unsure, but certainly /usr/lib and /usr/lib64 should be linked some way or another
in 2005.0 (/usr)/lib -> (/usr)/lib64 (/usr)/lib32 is a directory is the right way. i don't know how this got screwed up, i never saw such a setup, simply symlinking this should fix it
heh, too late now, i think. marking as WONTFIX for lack of anything better to call it.
