Description Alexander Holler 2002-09-29 16:04:46 UTC
Hi,

it is not very good if any ebuild adds something to any runlevel.

I'm using only scsi, so I don't want hdparm in my default runlevel.

Bad behavior.
Comment 1 Paul Thompson 2002-09-29 20:03:45 UTC
Definitely bad. I use hdparm for benchmarking only. If the kernels ide code
does not enable dma for a drive, one should only use something like
hdparm to enable it with full understanding. Please do not make the
ebuild add it to the default run level automaticly!
Also, the options it uses should be overridable via something in
/etc/conf.d
