I would really like to make some entries/correction(s) to the PPC64 section of the handbook. Or as Corsair said, maybe a howto. It seems like some iSeries specific mechanism/features are missing, and thats sad :-) Here is a list of things I just remember being left out: - Describing the 2 different ways of booting the LPAR (both without yaboot) - Tuning the filesystem, so it doesn't complain about being 1+ mill days old - Using a liveCD within nws (a copy of the liveCD) - The special device names in /dev/iseries If you think this could be an idea, I will start an installation from scratch, and writing down everything I do in details. Afterwards I can pick out all the things which are missing from the handbook or are not correct in the world of iSeries.
Created attachment 53520 [details] Medium section from ppc64 handbook Hi, it is a good idea to write those sections. I think they are best handled in the media section form the ppc64 handbook, so I've attached that section in xml format. You can add your sections to that part and provide the new xml document or just a patch/diff for the old one. If you thing they should be part of another section please let me know! Happy writing! Markus
Great! I will have a look at it when I feel better. I have just catched a cold. Could you please attach the 'Configuring the Bootloader' xml file also? I think that would be the best place to describe the booting of the LPAR part.
Created attachment 53599 [details] Bootloader section sure! here it is.
I need to bug you once more :-) Can you supply the 'Configuring the Kernel' also please, since there are few steps in there too.
Created attachment 53708 [details] Kernel section here it is
I havent forgot about this project, but work is taking up much time at the moment. Hopefully within the next month I will be able to supply some documentation(s).
let's mark this as LATER... jni: feel free to reopen ;-)
