Description Sebastian Bergmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-13 07:40:04 UTC
When I start one of the applications from the gnome-system-tools 2.10 its window opens but I cannot do anything in it. Once I close the window the process takes 99% of CPU time and needs to be killed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Desktop/Administration/Boot
2. Close the "Boot Manager Settings" window
3. boot-admin process takes 99% of CPU time

The problem is gone after I reinstalled my laptop from scratch.
Comment 3 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-26 08:22:38 UTC
if it's not reproducable anymore, close it.
Comment 4 alex f 2005-04-07 07:24:08 UTC
I have the exact same problem. I'm not looking forward to rebuilding everything from scratch. Seems to be related to having had installed gnome-2.6 before? Please reopen.

Err. Having had gnome-2.8 installed, not 2.6 ...
Comment 6 alex f 2005-04-23 04:33:50 UTC
It is now more than 2 weeks ago that I asked this bug to be reopened. Please reopen.
Comment 7 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-24 14:35:59 UTC
my random guess is that it goes nuts on the circular link in /boot.

What version of g-s-t are you using ? Try with the latest (even if it's p.masked) in the tree.

I've got the latest installed. This bug is especially about 1.2.0 since the 1.0.2 ebuild does not have that problem. It fails to bring up the dialog to enter the root password.
Comment 9 John Nilsson 2005-04-24 16:29:52 UTC
works fine if run as root
Comment 10 alex f 2005-04-24 16:43:51 UTC
Yes, it works for me as root as well. What I meant to say was: When run as a normal user it fails to bring up the dialog that asks for the root password and just hangs there until I kill it.
