Description Paul Handly 2005-03-13 00:42:53 UTC
After emerging mod_php 5.0.3-r1 on PPC, phpmyadmin complains about lack of the PHP multilib extension. After inspecting the output of phpinfo() and the compilation output, multilib is explicitly disabled, but I can't figure out the USE flag that's doing it. I compiled PHp with the following flags:

(-adabas) +apache2 -bcmath +berkdb (-birdstep) +bzlib -calendar -cdb -cpdflib -crypt -ctype -curl -curlwrappers -db2 +dba -dbase -dbm -dbmaker -dbx -debug -dio -empress -empress-bcs -esoob +exif +fam (-fdftk) -filepro -flatfile -frontbase +ftp +gd -gd-external +gdbm -gmp -hyperwave-api -iconv +imap -informix -ingres -inifile -interbase -iodbc +jpeg -kerberos +ldap -libedit -mcve -memlimit -mhash -mime -ming -mnogosearch -msession -msql -mssql +mysql -mysqli +ncurses -nis -nls -oci8 -odbc -oracle7 -ovrimos -pcntl -pcre -pfpro +png -posix -postgres -qdbm +readline -recode -sapdb -sasl +session -sharedext -sharedmem +simplexml -snmp -soap +sockets -solid -spell -spl +sqlite +ssl -sybase -sybase-ct -sysvipc -tidy +tiff -tokenizer +truetype -wddx +xml2 -xmlrpc -xpm -xsl +zlib

Seems like the cjk flag (not present, AFAIK) would be the logical choice, referencing Bug 6747 at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6747

There are so many USE flags and compilation options for PHP, it seems like either a USE flag for each "--enable/disable" or "--with-<something>" option is needed. Would a .conf file detailing modules be appropriate,

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge PHP 5.0.3-r1 with any set of USE flags
2. Check emerge output for explicit mention of multilib
3. Check phpinfo() output for same

there is no php extension called multilib.
if you meant mbstring, then USE=nls !
