Description Ramiro Simões Lopes 2005-03-11 21:59:13 UTC
After a certain random period running xscreensaver freezes my machine, nothing works. I don't think it is with some specific savers, but they are so many, need to investigate further. I know it's not the power management because it's disabled.
I don't know wich version I had before, some last year version, but I've just updated to 4.16 and it's still happening. Everything else in my system works fine.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Leave xscreensaver running for some period
2.
3.

Actual Results:
my computer freezed

Expected Results:
funny, shouldn't crash my system

don't know, it just works now.
upgraded the system... wich I had done at the time...
Comment 2 Luca 2005-11-28 02:22:27 UTC
I've the same problem on my system. It happens approx 1 time per week average.
The system freezes though only when I try to exit the screensaver and the
request for the password should appear. I don't know whether turning off the
password request the problem goes away. The xscreensaver version I'm using is:
x11-misc/xscreensaver-4.22-r4. This is emerge info output:

Could you try 4.23?
Comment 4 Luca 2005-11-28 02:43:23 UTC

> Could you try 4.23?

Sure. It'll take some time since as I said the bug shows in random time. I'll
report what will happen.
Comment 5 Luca 2005-11-29 06:06:37 UTC
Ok. I just had to reset since the system freezed again. The mouse pointer
appeared and freezed, the image of the screen freezed as well but no request for
password. Nothing was working. The system was doing nothing when the problem
appeared this time. xscreensaver version is 4.23.
Comment 6 Krzysztof Pawlik (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-30 12:48:14 UTC
Luca confirmed this as a bug.
Comment 7 Krzysztof Pawlik (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-11 08:12:17 UTC
Could you try with USE="new-login" ?
Comment 8 Krzysztof Pawlik (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-11 08:15:16 UTC
Sorry, that comment was for other bug. I can't reproduce it.
