It would be nice to be able to build things like PHP with MySQL client support
without needing to install the mull MySQL package.  Could this be done with a
new mysql-client ebuild that conflicts with mysql?

where do we draw the line?  why should mysql deserve a special case.
what about everything else in gentoo?

we're simply not ready to go down the road of
-server
-client
-docs
-devel

maybe in the future.
