saying 
ekeyword ~ppc some.ebuild
does something.
ekeyword ~ppc-macos some.ebuild 
shows usage. Fixing the regexp is insufficient, later something expects that the arch does not contain -

hmm, I have upgraded the wrong gentoolkit package. Upgrading gentoolkit-dev fixed this.
