This bug was filed an year and half ago:

In it is mentioned this bug found 3 years ago:

Since then, a year ago, it appears that progress on elogind was made to make policykit optional:
https://github.com/elogind/elogind/issues/167#issuecomment-698893174

We maybe should test and reconsider swayidle's hard dependency on policykit
