When emerging win32codecs, it is masked by keyword -amd64. It should be masked by keyword ~amd64. Temporary fix to emerge this package is to add -amd64 keyword to /etc/portage/package.keywords media-libs/win32codecs -amd64 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge win32codecs Actual Results: # emerge win32codecs Calculating dependencies !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "win32codecs" have been masked. !!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - media-libs/win32codecs-20050115 (masked by: -amd64 keyword) For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook. Expected Results: # emerge win32codecs Calculating dependencies !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "win32codecs" have been masked. !!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - media-libs/win32codecs-20050115 (masked by: ~amd64 keyword) For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.
Those win32codecs don't work on amd64. That's why they are keyworded -amd64. INVALID
OK, that makes sense that they don't work. I didn't know the keyword nomenclature. However, I believe I needed to do this to get mplayer working. Thanks,
Then you'll need a 32bit mplayer. Primer hangs out in #gentoo-amd64 and has a 32bit package with all the bells and whistles. check out: http://sh.nu/download/ebuilds/mplayer/
