Description Peter Gustafson 2005-03-09 13:11:34 UTC
When emerging win32codecs, it is masked by keyword -amd64.

It should be masked by keyword ~amd64.

Temporary fix to emerge this package is to add -amd64 keyword to /etc/portage/package.keywords

media-libs/win32codecs -amd64

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge win32codecs

Actual Results:
# emerge win32codecs
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "win32codecs" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-libs/win32codecs-20050115 (masked by: -amd64 keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.

Expected Results:
# emerge win32codecs
Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "win32codecs" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- media-libs/win32codecs-20050115 (masked by: ~amd64 keyword)

Those win32codecs don't work on amd64. That's why they are keyworded -amd64.
INVALID
Comment 2 Peter Gustafson 2005-03-10 09:22:59 UTC
OK, that makes sense that they don't work. I didn't know the keyword nomenclature.

However, I believe I needed to do this to get mplayer working.

Thanks,

Then you'll need a 32bit mplayer. Primer hangs out in #gentoo-amd64 and has a 32bit package with all the bells and whistles. check out:
