When I start the stylist for a text document or presentation, select a style and try to modify it, if I change the font (for example from "Times" to "Bitstream Vera Sans"), Openoffice crashes. If the document is not empty, a window appears saying that all documents have been saved before the crash. Strangely, it does not happen for a spreadsheet or a drawing. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Ximian Openoffice 1.3.7 2. Open a text document or presentation 3. Open the stylist window 4. Right click on a style name and select "Modify..." 5. On the style modification window, select the Font tab 6. Select a new font Actual Results: Openoffice crashes, after saving the current documents Expected Results: Not crash emerge info: ===== Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.3.5, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1500MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Mar 9 2005, 14:46:51)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.8.5-r3, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.4_p6, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aac acpi alsa apm arts avi bash-completion berkdb bzlib crypt cups curl dbm dga divx4linux doc dv dvdread encode esd exif expat fam ffmpeg flac font-server foomaticdb ftp gd gdbm ggi gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 imagemagick imap imlib jabber java jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal kdexdeltas ldap libg++ libwww mad mikmod mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg nls nptl oggvorbisopenal opengl oss pcmcia pcre pdflib perl pic png postgres ppds python qt quicktime readline sdl snmp speex spell ssl svg tcltk tcpd tetex theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts unicode usb vcd wifi xine xinerama xml2 xv xvid yahoo zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY =====
I observed that this problem does not occure while running Gnome. It always happens while running KDE, though.
I re-built this package with this modification to my USE variable: "-qt -kde". The result is still the same: it crashes under running KDE when I am modifying a font in a style.
I re-built the package again, with less optimizations (CXXFLAGS="-march=i686"). The 'paragraph style' window is still very unstable, making the application crash, but not always in the same area: sometimes in the font tab, sometimes in other tabs.
The problem seems to disappear with openoffice-ximian 1.3.8, even though it is still masked.
Am going to push 1.3.8 to stable soon, not a lot more we can do, as this as an upstream bug
1.3.9 is stable now, so closing this
