Description Andrej Kacian (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-04 07:57:01 UTC
I was watching a xvid file (-vo sdl) and working on multiple desktops. Suddenly, when I switched back to desktop where the video window was on, I noticed there's only bluescreen. Since then, my mplayer cannot play any kinds of video files - sound is OK, but there's no video, just bluescreen.

During that time, portage was compiling mozilla-1.7.5-r1. My recent update list is as follows:

I have to add that plain .avi files are hit by this as well.

Mplayer seems to recognize the xvid though:

I forgot to add, that this has happened on sdl video output. Bluescreen appears on sdl and xv outputs. x11, gl and gl2 work normally.

Comment 4 Chris White (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-07 22:03:56 UTC
Try recompiling with mmx2 USE flag and let me know if something still happens.
Comment 5 Andrej Kacian (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-07 23:33:46 UTC
Even if my /proc/cpuinfo doesn't list that flag for my CPU?

Comment 7 Chris White (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-21 15:45:30 UTC
Ticho, try the latest -r2 of mplayer-1.0_pre6-r2 and see if it has the same issue.
Comment 8 Andrej Kacian (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-21 16:47:27 UTC
\o/ !!! -r2 works now, thanks. :)

Have you figured out what exactly was the problem?
