Description SpanKY gentoo-dev 2002-09-25 18:33:13 UTC
explain what it is, how it works, what you can do with it, and how you can use
it
Comment 1 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-09-25 19:23:05 UTC
Hmm, okay.
I will need to do some research as I have never used this, but I will see what
I can do. Is there any specific document that you would like this in, or do you
think that it should be seperate?

[19:27] <g2boojum> SpanKY: Do me a favor and file a bug saying something along:
explain env.d in dev guide.

:)
but personally i would look for:
(1) a lot of good examples of how we can play with variables via env.d ... that
irc msg came from 'how can i do CONFIG_PROTECT for my ebuild'
(2) a good list of what variables we can play with (and their format ... e.g.
PATH is : delimited)
(3) a nice explanation of the 'XXpackage' system ... whats a good # for my
ebuild, how can i find what similar packages do, why do i need a XX number,
etc...
Comment 3 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-09-25 20:11:23 UTC
Okay, I can do that.
I will see what I can write, then I will throw it over to you and see what you
think. Give me some time though, because my knowledge is limited on this
subject ;-)

Thanks,

//ZhEN

Done, and ready for publication. It is in CVS.
I will close this bug. If we need changes to the guide, open a new one ;-)
